After its smash hit, the 8600, HP decided to one-up themselves with the HP 8610. While some early models were released in 2013, it only became widely available in 2014. Prices varies based on the package: while the release date price could climb up to $350 (and still does), you can find the printer for under $200 on Amazon these days, with some used versions even featuring cartridges. Not bad for something that supports cloud printing.
Most manufacturers churn out models with various numbers that have little difference between them, but HP can’t be accused of this. A single digit makes all the difference in the world here, as this is a fully-colored printer. Ergo, the HP printer not printing black won’t be the end of the world.
Being a bit of an older model, the 8610 can give you quite a hassle when it comes to finding ink. Contrary to what the HP Officejet Pro 8610 manual will tell you, remanufactured ink is a good option here as the model is still seeing a lot of use and probably will for some years to come. Unlike its colorless brother, the 8610 is available to sign up for the HP Instant Ink program. That being said, you’ll have to check with the manufacturer to see whether you can still get instant refills, what with the model being discontinued and all.
Keep in mind, though: colored printers get dirty a lot quicker, which means that you might have to either clean or replace the HP Officejet Pro 8610 printhead after some use, especially if you didn’t buy out-of-the-box.

Colored printers are also a lot more complicated than black-only versions, which means you’ll probably want to refer to the HP Officejet Pro 8610 manual before you’ve fired up here.
