The HP DesignJet 5500 is a large format inkjet printer that can attain up to 42 inches. The unit was unveiled in 2015 as part of HP’s continued commitment towards seeking more efficient alternatives for large format printing and plotting. Upon release, a brand new DesignJet 5500 retailed at about $1500. You can now get a second-hand unit for $600 on Amazon and other major markets.
This unit gives a maximum printing resolution of 1200 x 600 dpi for both colour and monochrome documents. It comes with a preinstalled Ram of 128 MB that can be expanded up to 256MB, enabling it to process complex printing commands. It comes with a 400-watt power rating, meaning that the printer is viable for commercial set-ups. You can connect the unit to your LAN via the convectional network port.
With the printer being an improvement from its predecessors in the same category, this unit received a very warm welcome in various online forums. With this unit, you can use quite a large variety of printing media including fine art paper, heavy-weight coated paper, satin paper, semi-gloss photo paper and matte paper amongst others. Here, you can print up to a maximum length of 300 ft.

Troubleshooting a HP printer can be a nuisance, we can tell from experience, and in most cases you need the original HP DesignJet 5500 Manual to get through the process, but sometimes a quick fix can be applied. This is why we created our two guides which we would recommend to go through before scrolling through the manual. The first one covers the issue when a HP Printer is Printing Blank Pages, and the second one is going through the issue when an HP printer is offline. If both of these guides didn’t help, then we would recommend going through the user manual.
