Brother Printer Not Printing Black

It is not uncommon for printers to stop printing a specific tone of color, but it is particularly annoying when black becomes an issue. Since this is the color used for most text and schematics as standard, the issue becomes even more prominent. Fortunately, there are a couple of factors that need to be taken into account when this happens, to determine the exact cause of the problem. Today, we will cover some of the most common reasons for which your Brother printer has stopped printing black.

How to Fix a Brother Printer That Is Not Printing Black

If your Brother printer does not print black after you replaced the cartridges, first of all, you need to make sure that you removed the blanking tape on the bottom of the cartridge. This is a commonly forgotten step, especially if you are in a hurry. This piece of tape is designed to keep the ink sealed in a vacuum so it does not dry up during shipping and shelf stay, so it is critical to remove it before installing it in your printer. You can read more about this in the official Brother Printer Manual.

Another common cause for this to happen is if you keep forcing your old cartridge too far over its ink level low message. If you do this for too long, the printer head nozzles will eventually be exposed to air, causing the sensitive mechanism to clog up ever so slightly. This type of issue will not prevent you from printing black altogether, yet there will be smudges, fuzzy text, or even skipped lines. The point we are trying to make here, is that you need to change your black color cartridges regularly, as soon as the ink is low message appears, for the reasons specified above.

Generic and genuine ink cartridges differ both in terms of the ink quality itself, considering viscosity, as well as the cartridge body material quality. It is not necessarily the cause behind not using genuine cartridges, but in particularly bad generic cartridges it might even be the case.

The three methods specified above are just an introduction to our fully featured article covering the problem of your Brother printer not printing black. If you are still having issues with this, watch this space as we will update this post as soon as we complete it.
